1947 - A 3-1 Boston win over the New York Rangers is repeatedly delayed due to fog and soft ice conditions caused by 80-degree temperatures inside Boston Garden. There is a 40-minute delay after the second period so players from both teams could get their skates resharpened.

1966- Bobby Orr makes his debut in a Boston uniform and Harry Sinden is behind the bench for his first game as Boston coach as the Bruins defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 6-2. It is their first opening night victory since 1962
