1949 - In pre-game ceremonies of a 2-2 tie with the New York Rangers, NHL President Clarence Campbell presents the Lady Byng Trophy to Boston’s Bill Quackenbush. He becomes the first defenseman to win the award. For the first time in Boston Garden, the ice is painted white to make following the puck easier.
1988 - Cam Neely ties a team record for points in a game with three goals and four assists in a 10-3 Boston win at the Chicago Blackhawks. Glen Wesley ties a club mark for assists In a period with four in the second in a 1-4=5 effort in the game.
